Experience

I studied at university for a decade from 2009 - 2019 with a core focus on psychology and emotional regulation. While studying I also worked in the mental health sector. I first worked as a psychologist in schools in 2019 - 2021. I have worked in private practice since 2021 with both young people and parents. I really enjoy working with young people and continue to do so, however after having my first child, I developed a strong passion for maternal psychology.

I provide individual therapy specialising in maternal mental health, as well as group antenatal and postpartum education and support to help parents prevent, manage, and overcome perinatal distress. I provide these services through Matrescence NZ, which I co-founded in 2021. Through my work, I aim to change unhelpful societal ideologies to better support mothers and parents.

The Helen Clark Foundation reports that 50% of parents experience moderate-severe perinatal distress. This suggests there are problems with the conditions in which we are parenting, not parents themselves. I love supporting mothers through their matrescence journey and enhancing both perinatal wellbeing and infant mental health. I specialise in supporting mothers and parents with anxiety, depression, intrusive thoughts, birth trauma, stress, obsessions and compulsions and emotional dysregulation.
